Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) announced the passing of his wife, Rhonda Massie, in a social media post on Thursday.

Rhonda Massie, 52, passed away surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer.

"It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of the passing of my beloved wife, Rhonda," Rep. Massie wrote in his post. "She was my best friend, my soulmate, and the love of my life."

Rhonda Massie was a successful businesswoman and a devoted mother and grandmother. She was an active member of her community and a strong supporter of her husband's political career.

"Rhonda was a force of nature," Rep. Massie said. "She was always there for me and our children, and she always put others before herself. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her."
